I took my own advice and wrote about what I know

Last week I talked about how I was afraid that I had written two squidoo lenses about my bum marketing plan. I was afraid that I hadn't added any value to the internet as a whole. I felt I had just written a lens or two with some keywords thrown in and some links to affiliates I wanted to promote. This led to a third squidoo lens where I talked about writing about what you know,

I took my own advice today and wrote my latest lens about my learning about cordless drill drivers and knowing what the difference between Lithium-ion batteries and Ni-cad batteries were. Also, I shared what I feel are key features to look at as you do a cordless drill driver comparison.

I feel better about this latest lens because I learned something about a tool purchase I made and I feel that what I learned will also help others as they do their Christmas shopping for their favorite handyman (or handy woman) for the right cordless drill driver.

Do I know what I'm writing about?

I published two squidoo lens this week about My Bum Marketing Plan. My first lens was an overview about the differant areas of Bum Marketing that I am familiar with. The second lens was My Bum Marketing Plan (Part 1: Writing Effective Articles Online)

After publishing these and doing some reflecting (added by reading forums on Wealthy Affiliate and of all places ClickBank) I began to wonder if my Bum Marketing lenses had ant true value or if they were just a lame attempt to fill up space and promote affiliate links and try to look like a proven affiliate master.

Today I decided to publish another squidoo lens but this time I decided I wouldn't do any keyword research, I wouldn't even have any hint of an outline. I would just type writing and see where it ended up. This lens, Writing a Lens about what you know was the result.

Right now I feel real good about the results and feel I ended up with some helpful content (helpful not just to my readers) but also helpful to me as I continue on Snotty Scotty's Journey.

Who is Joel Broughton? (Man his voice is annoying)

I was surfing Traffic Exchanges the other day and every so often I'd hear "Hi Joel Broughton here with the New Rich Report...". For some reason this greeting really grates on me. Every time I here this I start clicking faster so I can shut him up (it is really bad when he is open in more than one window).

I know, if his voice is so annoying why don't I just turn my speakers off; the main reason I keep my speakers on is because my favorite Traffic Exchange is Tezak Traffic Power. Tezak Traffic Power has bonus credits every 15 pages surfed and there is an audio clue when the bonus page appears so I guess I'll have to put up with Joel's (Hi this is Joel Broughton...). So why is this my favorite TE? Because of the bonus structure? Because of all the traffic it is driving to my sites? No, none of these, I like Tezak Traffic Power because it combines space aliens and the Three Amigos; what more can you want?

Back to Joel, I kept ignoring The New Rich Report and wasn't interested in what it had to offer. One day I was readying the forums in one of the affiliates (Acme-People-Search.com) I am promoting and read that other marketers were using the New Rich Report to promote their niche search engine. I went ahead and signed up for the New Rich Report and found out what it is all about. I found resources in the NRR back office for promoting this program and found that resources could also be used to promote anything you want on line.

To cut a long story short my story about Joel Broughton's "New Rich Report" illustrates my point to keep your eyes and ears open for information on how to market more effectively. You never know where you will gain valuable resources, they may even come from something that is a major annoyance to you.

Read more about how the New Rich Report and traffic exchanges play a part in My Bum Marketing Plan on Squidoo.
